The Music Experience

The jam session started with Kyle Travers and Eric Travers leading the group for the first hour. Their set included covers from iconic bands like the Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers Band, which resonated well with the crowd. This particular Sunday was the day after founding Grateful Dead co-frontman Bob Weir passed away, and so the set included "Not Fade Away" played in Weir's honor. The eulogy theme was also evident in the playing of The Allman Brothers Band's classic instrumental, "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed", on which the Travers Brothers did a fantastic job. The mix of classic rock and blues beats created a warm, inviting atmosphere that encouraged participation from other local musicians who joined in as the session progressed.

The informal nature of the jam allowed for spontaneous collaborations and improvisations, making each song feel fresh and unique. The Travers Brothers’ skillful playing and friendly stage presence helped maintain a steady flow of music that kept the audience engaged throughout the evening. They had previously collaborated on their Travers Brothership band, before forming separate projects. We'll take them any way we can get them, but the two fraternal twins definitely have a chemistry when playing together. After their set, it was said from the stage that the two brothers had been influential in starting the Sunday Jam there at the venue.

Craft Beer Selection

Pisgah Brewing boasts over a dozen beers on tap, offering something for every taste. During the event, we sampled the Coffee Stout, which stood out for its rich, smooth flavor with just the right balance of bitterness and sweetness. It paired perfectly with the music, enhancing the overall experience.

The brewery’s commitment to quality and variety means visitors can explore different styles, from hoppy IPAs to malty ales. This wide selection makes Pisgah Brewing a great place to discover new favorites while enjoying live music.

Food That Complements the Vibe

The kitchen at Pisgah Brewing offers a focused menu with a selection of sandwiches and salads that complement the beer and music. We tried the roast beef and Havarti sandwich, which was fantastic. While advertised as a panini, our sandwich was served on focaccia bread but didn't seem to be pressed in typical panini fashion, so a bit of a surprise, but a delicious one nonetheless. The combination of savory roast beef with creamy Havarti cheese topped with arugula created a satisfying flavor profile.

In addition to the sandwich, we ordered a large chef salad. It was fresh, with a hearty portion of greens, vegetables, ham, turkey, and cheese, making it a great option for those looking for a lighter meal. The quality of the ingredients and the generous serving size made it clear that the kitchen takes pride in its offerings.

Community and Atmosphere

One of the highlights of the Sunday Jam is the sense of community it fosters. Locals come not only to enjoy the music but also to connect with friends and neighbors in a relaxed setting. The friendly vibe encourages new musicians to join in, making the jam session a welcoming space for all skill levels.

Pisgah Brewing’s cozy interior and rustic charm add to the experience, creating a comfortable environment where people can unwind and enjoy the evening. The combination of good music, quality beer, and tasty food makes it a great spot for a Sunday outing.

The Sunday Jam at Pisgah Brewing Company delivers more than just music. It offers a chance to enjoy great live performances, sample excellent craft beers, and savor delicious food in a warm, community-focused setting.
