Appalachia Today™ is a digital magazine covering news, travel, events, music, culture, and history across the Appalachian Mountains. The site was founded in 2025 by Casey Nicholson of Greeneville, Tennessee.
Our Mission
The mission of Appalachia Today™ is threefold:

To promote Appalachian community development in the 21st century by reporting on news, events, and travel throughout the Appalachian region.

To connect the contemporary Appalachian region with its rich history and culture, highlighting the people, places, and traditions that shape Appalachian life.

To broaden the understanding of Appalachia by connecting the region traditionally understood as the central and southern Appalachian Mountains—including coal country in the west and the Blue Ridge Mountains in the east—with the wider mountain communities stretching from the Deep South to New England and the Canadian Appalachians.
