Folk Americana band The Avett Brothers have been bringing their high-energy mix of acoustic string music and rocked-up rhythms to the world for over two decades now. December 31, 2025, marked their 21st Annual New Year’s Eve show in Asheville, North Carolina, this year at the ExploreAsheville.com Arena inside the Harrah's Event Center. Concertgoers were treated to a blistering 32-song set to ring in the New Year. The show included covers of the “Black Mountain Rag”, a Doc Watson standard that pays homage to the nearby town of Black Mountain, as well as John Fogerty’s “Centerfield” and Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”. A New Year’s Eve balloon drop took the audience by storm as the last song was played.

The show was a two-for-one, with The Infamous Stringdusters opening. The Grammy-winning bluegrass band features its own unique blend of traditional acoustic bluegrass with a 21st-century bend from a band that has sold out the nearby Orange Peel for its own New Year’s Eve show in recent years. A highlight of the night was when the Stringdusters played their rendition of The Cure’s classic song, “Just Like Heaven”. Together, the two bands put on an instant classic and one of our favorite shows of the year, offering up a strong Grand Finale to 2025!
